Doctrinal Statement

We Believe in…

The Scriptures

The verbal inspiration and total inerrancy of the Old and New Testaments (66 books) as originally given by God; their sole-sufficiency and final authority in all matters of faith and practice. II Tim. 3:16-17; II Pet. 1:20-21; Psa. 119:105

God

One God in three persons, the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-equal, co-eternal, sovereign and active in creation, providence and redemption. Deut. 6:4; Zech. 12:10; Mt. 3:16-17;

The Lord Jesus Christ

The essential deity and perfect humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the only mediator between God and mankind; His virgin birth, sinless life and sacrificial death on the cross as the only substitute for sinners; His burial, bodily resurrection and ascension to heaven; His high priestly ministry and personal return. Isa. 7:14; Mt. 1:23; Jn. 19:28-30; Jn. 1:1-3; Col. 1:15-17; Isa. 44:24; II Cor. 5:21; I Pet. 1:18-19; I Cor. 15:3-4; Mt. 28:5-9; Ac. 2:22-28; I Cor. 15:20; Lu. 24:50-51; Ac. 1:9; Jn. 14:3; Ac. 1:10-11; I Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 22:7

The Holy Spirit

The work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating the sinner and indwelling, sanctifying and empowering the believer. 1 Pet. 1:2; Eph. 1:13-14; Jn. 16:7-15; Eph. 5:18

The Devil

That Satan is a personal being; a fallen angel; the “god of this age”; his actions are evil and his end is certain doom. 2 Cor. 11:1-15; 2 Pet 5:8-9; Rev 12:9-10; Matt 4:2-11; Isa 14:12-17

Man

The creation of man, male and female, in the image of God, equal in value and complementary in role; the creation ordinance of marriage as the lifelong union of one man and one woman; the entrance of sin through Adam’s disobedience; the fallen and totally depraved state of all humanity; their subjection to God’s wrath and condemnation; their responsibility to repent and believe the Gospel. We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His Image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. Gen. 1:27, Gen. 2:24, Rom 3:23, 1 Cor. 15:20–23, Rev. 21:8; 21:1–4.

Justification

The justification of the sinner by God’s grace alone through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ alone; the eternal security of the believer. Jn. 1:12, 3:16, 10:9-10, 14:6; Ac. 4:10-12; Rom. 5:1; I Tim. 2:5; Titus 3:4–7; Gal 1:6-10; Rom 1:16 1 Cor. 15:1-4; Jn. 5:24; Eph. 5:8

The Church

Made up of those drawn from every tribe, language, people and nation throughout history who are added to it by the work of the Holy Spirit and the exercise of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; the local expression of the church in the world is the gathering of believers under the headship of Christ for worship, fellowship, instruction, edification and evangelism; the practices of baptism (by immersion) and the Lord’s supper (as a remembrance) as commanded by Jesus Himself; the priesthood of all believers and their unity in the Body of Christ; the separation of church and state. Acts 2:41-47; 20:17-32; Matt 28:16-20; Eph. 4:11-16; 1 Cor. 11:23-34; Ephesians 1:22–23

The Future State

The unconditional immortality of the soul; the resurrection of the body; the eternal joy in heaven of the believer; the conscious eternal punishment in hell of those who die unbelieving. Jn. 6:40; Mt. 25:46; Rev. 20:11-15

Christian Behaviour

The responsibility of all believers to obey and serve the Lord, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives; the duty of the church to exercise godly discipline in a loving and caring fashion.
